In accordance with the Interagency Guidelines Establishing Information Security ("Security Guidelines") jointly issued by the Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System (Board), the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), and the Office of Thrift Supervision (OTS), the "Financial Privacy Rule" and the Safeguards Rule", as all or any parts may apply, CMC, as a "Service Provider" maintains high standards and technical safeguards to ensure the security, confidentiality, integrity and the proper storage and disposal of customer information.The Security Guidelines established for the financial services industry also set forth specific basic requirements that apply to a financial institution’s arrangements with all service providers. An institution must:
- Exercise appropriate due diligence in selecting its service providers
- Require its service providers to implement appropriate measures designed to protect against unauthorized access to or use of non-public customer information maintained by the service provider that could result in substantial harm or inconvenience to any customer; and
- Properly store and/or dispose of nonpublic customer information. As defined in the Security Guidelines, the role of a "Service Provider" is any party that is permitted access to a financial institution’s non-public customer information through the provision of services directly to the institution.
CMC takes a very conservative view of these regulations and standards. CMC believes that our role and access to non-public information requires us to provide a high level of security to serve clients.
